Assam University (AU) is a central university established in the year 1994. The total area of AU is 600 acres. More than 300 faculties available at the UA. There are a total of 16 schools and under these schools, there are a total of 41 departments. AU touches one country border and four state borders. AU has a teaching university and affiliation. It is an affiliate of the University Grants Commission. It is a "B" grade university assigned by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India. Currently, more than 8,500 students are studying at the University of Assam. The University of Assam has two campuses: one in Silchar and one in Diphu. The satellite campus was started at the University of Assam in the 2007 - 2008 session. At Diphu Campus there are a total of 10 departments.
